Meet the Board

The Huntsville Swing Dance Society is powered by an elected board of passionate volunteers, as well as a broader community of dedicated individuals who generously give their time and energy to support the mission of HSDS. Together, they ensure the success and vibrancy of our swing dance events and initiatives.

Hannah Burns:
President

Hannah brings years of invaluable experience to her role as President of the HSDS Board, building on her previous service and her passion for music. As a talented jazz musician and a proud member of the local Flying on Instruments Jazz Ensemble, Hannah is dedicated to enriching and expanding Huntsville's jazz music and swing dance community. She frequently DJs at local social dances and shares her expertise by mentoring others in jazz-era music, helping to keep the traditions alive and thriving. Ask her about her plans for the local blues scene!
   Emily Stephenson:
Vice President

Emily became an active member in the Huntsville swing dance community starting in 2016 until her lower-limb amputation in 2018. During that challenging time, the Huntsville dance community offered incredible support. As the Vice President of the HSDS, Emily is thrilled to support the community that played such a significant role in her recovery. Living with a limb difference, she is grateful for the opportunity to continue dancing Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Blues, and is dedicated to promoting the HSDS mission.

Foster Lux:
Treasurer

Foster started dancing Lindy Hop in 2018 and quickly branched out picking up Balboa and Collegiate Shag shortly after. Loving swing music since playing in jazz band in high school, she is most enthusiastic about finding new ways to express musicality and connecting with a partner on the dance floor! This is her third year serving on the HSDS board.
Jocelyn Hawley:
Secretary

Jocelyn ("she/her") hails from Fayetteville, TN, but has called Huntsville home for four years now. She has been swing dancing since 2011, but is new to HSDS's board in 2025. She's excited to give back to a community that has been nurturing her as a dancer and a person for so long!
