So, this Wednesday, 16 June, we will be shagging 6:30-8:30 pm at the Brahan Spring Recreation Center. The rec center is the white building located behind the Senior Center (Drake Avenue) at 3770 Ivy Avenue. Easiest access is to turn off Drake, North, and it will be on the left just after you pass the Senior Center.

We're bringing Reuel Reis down to Huntsville to duplicate the DJ summit him and Corey Manke are doing in Nashville. Are you interested in DJing? Do you want to learn a bit more about how to get to the crowd? This your chance to learn a bit more. Hear about some of the tricks as well as the pitfalls of DJ'ing and get your questions answered. Both beginner and experienced DJs are welcome. Never DJ'd but want to? Come on out!

After I left Hog Wild last week about 8 p.m. to go see my new granddaughter in B'ham, Betty told Hal we would no longer be able to use Hog Wild as our venue on Wednesday evenings. The legitimate concern is that they were not taking in enough revenue from us. ("Lessons are free, spend money at the bar.")

Unfortunately, we were given no warning. We'll not be able to meet there tonight, but Hal has arranged that we can meet tonight at the Eagle's Club. See you there at 6:30.

So Huntsville's now got the lessons. It's got the dances, both big and small. Whats the one thing it lacks? BLUES! It's time to change that. We're going to show Amendment 21 just how classy, sexy, and seductive a good group of blues dancers can be. If they like us, they may even invite us back. Upstairs at amendment 21 is where lindy got started in Huntsville so it is only fitting that blues starts there as well. And with the best floor in town, there's going to be no topping it!

This event is designed to bring all dancers together for a weekend of pure fun and delight in honor of my twin sister MELODY. For those who don't know me, on Nov. 14th, 2009 after attending a dance venue, my twin and I were in a horrible car accident which resulted in losing my beautiful, sweet, Melody. In her honor, I am hosting a weekend of nothing but dancing..She truly had a passion for dance, and as long as we dance, we will have MELODY in our hearts! So LET"S DANCE!

Just a quick note, Tabitha and Gabriel's lessons at the UAH Fitness Center are cancelled today (Tuesday, 3/16) due to spring break.

Tabitha and Gabriel will be back next week. The beginner class will continue lindy hop fundamentals, building on the last two weeks.

Balboa, the ever feared and respected swing dance. Even among swing dances, balboa is a separate peak to be conquered. However, with the right help, you can go from 0 to 60 in no time flat. Thats what this workshop is all about, giving those with no experience a chance to get cruisin and those with some balboa experience a chance to turn it into a solid part of their swing repertoire.

Class 1 – The Good Stuff: Getting comfortable with the feel and basic steps of the balboa

Class 2 – The Better Stuff: Adding some pure balboa moves to your basic

Class 3 – The Great Stuff: Moves to make you look great on the dance floor

Class 4 – The Best Stuff: Teaching a classic “old timer” balboa move for some major eye candy on the floor that combines a little bit of everything learned so far and more.
