And our winner is... (drumb roll).... Ryan McKennan and Erin Little by a single vote! It was a wonderful dance and a photo finish.

Twickenham Jazz & Swing Band at the HMCPL

The Twickenham Jazz and Swing band will be playing 40's swing music in the Glenn Miller tradition. The library has invited us out to dance so make a little time in your week for some fun at the library!

Library Stars 2012 - Round 1 Wrap Up

So round one was HUGE! The library had a ton of chairs out and ended up having to add about every chair they had. And they STILL didn't have enough seating for all the people who came out! The band did a great job (though tended to be a bit more ballroomy music wise).

But what you want to know is who is going on to the final round June 21st! Our winners are...

It's that time again! Dancing with the Library Stars! This is a chance for dancers who know a some swing to get out and show off a bit. It's a really mellow competition and every year we like to focus on the intermediate dancers (rather than letting Huy and Tabitha win every time). If you are able to get on the floor at a HSDS dance, you are able to get on the floor at Library Stars!

The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library will have a special holiday concert with the U.S. Army Materiel Command Band and the Rocket City Jazz Orchestra. It'll be swinging holiday tunes and room for dancers so take some time and celebrate the holidays this Saturday!

The concert is free of charge and will be held in the Downtown Library Atrium.
