Swing Fever Venues

UAH Exhibition Hall

The UAH Exhibition Hall is a very large dance hall. It has a hardwood floor set on foundation. The hall has vaulted ceilings and is all hard wood (1000's of square feet). The floor can vary in cleanliness and speed depending on its use since cleaning. Multiple round tables for seating surround the dance floor. The hall includes a raised stage for the band as well as an installed sound system. The hall allows a lot of room for socializing, traveling dance, static dance, and simply experimenting. It is a dry hall with access to student center facilities but no beverages for purchase.

Madison Ballroom

Madison Ballroom is a dance studio started by dancers, for dancers. It is located in Madison, AL, (a suburb of Huntsville) in a small strip mall. It has a floating, wood laminate floor on top of a thick foam pad. The floor has a good give though not as much as a wood subfloor would. The floor is very fast. Suede soles may be too slick. The floor is kept very clean for dancers. The dance floor is between 800 and 1200 square feet. The studio has a small amount of sitting room but is primarily dance floor. Florescent lights will be used for lessons with a move to tube lighting along the edges for the late night. The studio includes a dual-sided sound system.

Elk's Lodge

The Elk's Lodge is is in downtown Huntsville. It has a slightly smaller floor, (600 - 800 square feet). It is a true wood floor set on foundation so can be rougher on the knees. The wood is more worn and a bit dirty from use. It is reasonably kept; not stick but also not extremely fast. There is a very large amount of sitting area as well as a bar with VERY reasonable drafts and wells. Lighting is low incandescent with a raised stage for the band.

Bamboo Studio

This late night dance floor is a fast cushioned bamboo hardwood floor.  This perfect late night setting has dimming lights and is the perfect size...not too big, and not too small (approximately 155 sq. ft.).  The late night venue location also includes a very clean single bathroom area lined with flagstone and mortar.  It almost feels like a little cabin, but with all the amenities you need for a rockin' late night.  Tap water provided.  BYOB, or just bring yourself.
