January Wrap Up

Man you guys are good! We figured we'd plan a nice, simple, quiet dance and you turned it into a thing. It didn't hurt that Marshal killed it laying down an awesome set. Big thanks to him for coming down, making the music happen, and not holding the service at the Steak and Shake against us.

But really, thanks to YOU. Normally we expect DJ dances to be a bit slower. This one wasn't! We had close to a hundred people there. We also had multiple other scenes represent including Nashville, Knoxville, Cookeville, Birmingham and that one guy from Austin who always comes. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better dance.

And remember, our next dance is coming up FAST! (Feb 4th) It's a Sadie Hawkins Dance so it's the girl's job to ask the guys out onto the floor!

----

And there's more that's happened in January other than the dance. For starters, we now have new bylaws. Big thanks to Amber, Briana, and the rest of the HSDS board for making them happen.

Creating a Proposal to the HSDS Board

The HSDS Board recognizes that there are many members of the Huntsville swing dance community which have good ideas for swing dance in Huntsville and the region. As such, we've created a proposal process. Anyone in the community is welcome to submit a proposal. please expect a minimum two weeks for consideration if not more, (depending on the date of HSDS board meetings).

The following procedure should be used for submitting ideas or requests to the HSDS board:

HSDS Board, Teachers, and Leaders

Below are the people who make HSDS run as well as teachers in town who keep the Huntsville swing dance community alive. They work tirelessly teaching lessons as well as set up and break down for dances. They meet to plan events, call bands, find teachers, scout venues and generally go out of their way to make swing dance an easy option in Huntsville

If you are looking for someone to talk to to get started in swing dance in Huntsville, any of these people can help. Those listed as teachers provide regular group and private lessons in varying styles of swing dance.
