WOW. We knew the dance was going to be good, but NO-ONE expect this! it was HUGE! We had as many people as we had at the Regional Meetup with Christabel and the Jons last December! (Speaking of which, she's coming back In July. Just sayin.) And yet the dance floor wasn't horribly crowded.
We knew from last October that Microwave Dave and the Nukes knew how to throw down and move us on the dance floor, but it's easy to forget just how incredible a mastery of the music he has. He's like the pied piper of blues. He plays and everyone hits the floor!
We had a great turnout with a HUGE blues lesson. Tabitha and Huy put together a fantastic class for everyone and Microwave Dave moved it from the stage.
It took a lot of work, but everyone pitched in and made Amber's wedding a spectacular event that will be remembered for many years to come! The ceremony was absolutely beautiful overlooking the sunset. Big thanks to everyone who made it happen including the wedding party, families, Huy (audio), Tabitha (hair) & coordinator, Michael (video), and all others who contributed!
The Old City Buskers is a band of swing dancers and they truely proved it. It's probably the first time we've had a live band play our Tranky-Doo and definitely the first time we've had a live band play Communication by Slim and Slam. The skill of these guys is growing by leaps and bounds! They are quickly stepping up the ladder of HSDS bands.
And it wouldn't be a dance without dancers, and there were a TON of them! The dance floor stayed full the entire dance. EVERYONE found something they could enjoy dancing to =). In fact, our dances are starting to get so big we're actually looking at ways to expand the dancible area. Having so many dancers you have to make room for all of them: I must admit, it's a good problem to have!
What a Dance! We PACKED the monkey! We had people that had danced for years and people who were just starting! We had High School students and college students. We had young professionals and retirees. We had the Huntsville crowd as well as people from Nashville, Birmingham, Memphis, Knoxville, Atlanta, and Auburn! The only problem the whole night was finding space on the dance floor!
The HSDS Speakeasy with Blair Crimmins may have been one of the best dances ever! Blair Crimmins definitely knows how to keep the party going! The jam circles were unforgettably good. Even the lesson was huge! Big thanks to Blair Crimmins and the Hookers for such a wonderful concert, Huy and Tabitha for the great lesson, and all of the HSDS crew for making the dance go off without a hitch! See you next month for Christabel and the Jons December 9th!
We had high expectations for April Smith and the Big Picture Show and they didn't disappoint! Thank you to everyone who came out to make this such an amazing dance.
What a Huge dance! We knew RCJO could bring people out and man did they ever! Over 100 people and so many for the beginner lesson we filled the floor! Thank you to Tabitha and Gabriel who gave an incredible lesson and to Paul Fryer who did an excellent job of DJ'ing the intermissions.
