This weekend was an incredible warmup for Blues Masquerade next weekend! Everyone had such an incredible time!
The weekend started out with Rocket City Jazz Orchestra and the Four Star Orchestra battling it out at Bridge Street. A bunch of dancers came out and we couldn't have asked for better music or a more beautiful night! There is nothing quite like dancing to a big band under the stars!
It may have taken a whole weekend but May even topped the outstanding April Smith dance! What an incredibly mash-up of dancing. We started on Miss Tess at the Monkey, worked our way through JoHo, the Knights, Christa, a Barron, and landed on the mountain with Rob Murphy.
Ok, a few things I kinda didn't put in the newsletter.
1. Huy and Tabitha are starting beginning lindy tonight at the UFC. (Yes, I know it's raining.) A lot of people have said they feel like their basics are a bit rusty. Here's your chance to practice them. While beginners are learning the basic, it's your chance to clean up your fundamentals with zero pressure. Also, if you have friends that want to start dancing, tell them to get out tonight. This is their chance to start at square 1.

For Saturday's Late Night, LTMYB gives you the secret knock to get into a cozy little joint just uptown. The lights are low, and the space is limited, so come ready to get your blues on (or just chill out around the perimeter). Just what the doctor ordered after a hard day's work. . . er, dance.

And there was Bass. And the Groove felt the Bass, and lo his booty did shake.
A smooth 50/50 blend of old school and new school.
A sound born from smoking Blues and burning Mo-Town Soul, growing up through the 80's, finding itself in the 90's House scene, and resampling itself digitally like a bastard Star Wars remake - the Groove has come back to take its throne.
