In 2010, we decided it was high time for Charlotte to host our very own Lindy exchange. Our inaugural event was in 2010, followed by a one-year hiatus while Stephanie finished her Masters degree. (Thanks, Charlotte Cheap Thrills Dance Weekend organizers, for bridging the gap in 2011!) But we’re back and ready to kick QCLX into high gear with our 2012 theme: Star Wars!

LINDYFEST 2012 is MARCH 15-18th
Welcome to Lindyfest 2012, Houston Swing Dance Society's 16th annual Lindy Hop workshop. Lindyfest is an intensive and fun lindy hop weekend workshop jammed packed with classes for all dance levels, soul sessions with living legends, hot performances and four endless nights of dancing. Lindyfest brings in hundreds of dancers from all across the globe to learn lindy hop from the masters and experience the excitement of Lindy Hop, all here in Houston.

Pirate Swing is a three-track lindy hop and blues workshop. We offer classes with great teachers, dances with live music, and an excuse to wear that pirate costume hanging in the back of your closet.
Our instructors are all friendly and approachable, and we provide as many opportunities as we can for you to interact with them. From advanced track auditions to dances to office hours, Pirate Swing aims to maximize your time with the teachers.

Portland Lindy Society is pleased to announce that we will have another Portland Lindy Exchange in 2012!!! We will be bringing bands like Palmetto Bug Stompers, Bridgetown Sextet, Casey MacGill, Midnight Serenaders, and Swing Papillon. There will be a late night blues room as well. Hope to you see there. For those of you not in-the-know, the Orlando Lindy Exchange is the largest swing event in Florida (350 last year) and one of the largest swing events in the southeast U.S.! It's a full weekend of swing dancing - pure bliss for the lindy hop enthusiast. ORLX 5 will be held the first weekend of March, 2012. Early bird admission is only $50 for the entire weekend, that's 30 hours of dancing and a t-shirt for only $50! All active UCF Swing Knights members get a $5 discount as well. Des Moines is excited to welcome dancers to the Heartland Swing festival, Iowa's biggest dance festival! Our swing weekend features some of the world's finest instructors and dancers. It is four days of non-stop Lindy Hop that includes classes for all levels, dances with live music and is home of the Collegiate Jitterbug Championships! Please join us next March to experience the joy of swing dancing in Central Iowa.

All evening dances are open to the public. No partner required. Join us!

This is a high energy fast paced class for experienced Lindy Hoppers. We’ll dive into complex moves and the techniques to take dancing from great to WOW! This is not class for the faint of heart, or those who don’t want to work hard. Drop-ins are welcome.

Note: Dancers need to be comfortable with swingouts and charleston at a variety of tempos. If you aren’t certain if this class will be right for you, please come early (or to Tim & Sarah’s Moves and Technique Class on Wednesdays) and the teachers will evaluate your dancing.
