Blues Masquerade with Microwave Dave and the Nukes Recap

This was the first time Microwave Dave and the Nukes have played an HSDS event and there is absolutely no way it will be the last! The dance was the absolutely perfect mix of dancers, costumes, blues, Microwave Dave, energy, and Flying Monkey.

We had a TON of people out including a huge number for the lesson. Huy and Briana gave an excellent blues lesson covering almost every genre of blues dance, all in an hour!

HSDS Blues Masquerade with Microwave Dave

This Halloween, we will be taking a trip to Frenchmen Street in New Orleans. It's a seedy place, but inside you're among friends. With Microwave Dave weaving his hypnotic blues, you'll be entranced. Filled with dancers in disguise, mysterious people, and others of questionable background the floor will be a mix of the blues swing we all know and love. Hide behind a costume and let go as you paint the floor with that beautiful blues or lurk in the background, just enjoying the smooth song of steps from the floor. This is what a New Orleans night is meant to be.

If this is your first time to a blues dance, we've got you covered. We'll be teaching a beginner blues dance lesson at 7:00 and Danielle Beardsley will be DJing blues and normal swing music inbetween sets.

Rock That Lindy Hop/ October Halloween Dance Recap

Man, what a great weekend! October is definately proving to be one of the best months for HSDS. We had a great workshop with a huge dance and an awesome band. Christabel and the Jons knocked it outta the park! There were a ton of people there and a ton dancing! It always makes the HSDS board feel good to see not just the floor but the marly mat jam packed with dancers.

First off, I'd like to give a big thanks to the UAH Dance Club who's gracious donations to HSDS make it possible to get UAH students in free. We couldn't do it without them!
