Portland Lindy Society is pleased to announce that we will have another Portland Lindy Exchange in 2012!!! We will be bringing bands like Palmetto Bug Stompers, Bridgetown Sextet, Casey MacGill, Midnight Serenaders, and Swing Papillon. There will be a late night blues room as well. Hope to you see there. LaB, Philadelphia’s Lindy and blues headquarters, is turning five this year!
We landed live music from Gordon Webster for TWO NIGHTS, the LaB Techs will be doing all the instructing, and all of our DJs will be our favorites that we see and hear every week!
As always, LaBLove will bring you two lovely days of instruction, and three full nights of social dancing!
The LaBaret is back! This variety show was a hit last year, and showcased the talents of folks in the local scene. It will sure to rock your stockings or argyle socks off again this year!

Hal Beach will be DJ'ing a swing dance at Gee's Place Saturday, January 21st. There will be most for all swing dancers including East Coast, West Coast, Shag, Bop, Lindy, and Blues. Between the Jan 14th HSDS dance, The 21st Gee's Place dance, the 28th KCDC dance, and the Feb 4th HSDS dance, you can actually dance four weeks strait! It doesn't happen often in Huntsville so take advantage! See the attached flyer for details.

Enter the Blues is back! On Feb 17-19, 2012, the southeast welcomes blues dancers from all over the country to enjoy a taste of southern tradition, culture, and music. Teachers include Damon Stone & Heidi Fite, Joe Demers & Mike Legett, and Carsie Blanton & Jon Darvill. We will also offer 4 different competitions and have both DJs and live music. January:
6:40-7:40 pm, Beginner Swing: If you've never danced before then this is the class for you! We'll be covering a basic 6-count swing dance pattern. We'll then expand into turns and moves to help build up your vocabulary. The class will emphasize lead and follow connection/communication so that you can dance with anyone. No partner and previous dance experience is necessary. If you plan to attend, make sure to at least come to the first two lessons. Please wear comfortable clothes and flat soled shoes with little to no tread. You're sure to break a sweat.

This was the first time Microwave Dave and the Nukes have played an HSDS event and there is absolutely no way it will be the last! The dance was the absolutely perfect mix of dancers, costumes, blues, Microwave Dave, energy, and Flying Monkey.
We had a TON of people out including a huge number for the lesson. Huy and Briana gave an excellent blues lesson covering almost every genre of blues dance, all in an hour!

~ Live Blues Band ~ The Corey Mac band will be coming from Nashville, TN to perform. They are nothing less than OUTSTANDING. The Carolina Chocolate Drops are coming to Huntsville! These guys aren't necessarily swing musicians, but instead capture historical folk, blues, and appalachian sound. There should be some dancable music and, if nothing else, it'll be just the kind of music swing dancers love!
