Music City Swing (http://musiccityswing.com/) will be at the Nashville Centennial Park Event Shelter for a big band dance. Music City Swing is Nashville’s finest example of what a big band can be, proving that music from any era can swing. This 21-piece band plays music from the 40s through today in its own hard-swinging, big-sounding way.
There are many other band dances at centennial park throughout the summer, (though not necessarily all swing). See the "Big Band Dance Series" in the attached schedule of events.

We love live band music! If you are new to playing for dancers, these tips will hopefully take some of the mystery out of what dancers want. Follow these and you should be able to step into the dance and have a floor full of people respond to your music! Do's:
How often have you seen this at a dance: the band finishes a song and all you hear is the din of people talking to each other? No applause, no cheers, just “hurry up and play another song.” Ever wonder what the band thinks when they hear that? We think no one is listening. We’d be right.
In November, we have a treat! We've got a weekend of back-to-back badass bands. The weekend starts off Friday with Christabel and the Jons at the Red Cat in Birmingham! Christa and the band will be bringing her wonderful appalacian folk swing to a great Birmingham venue.

The Birmingham Swing Dancers Music by the Rudy Mockabee Band, a highlight of the Huntsville night scene for many years. Rudy, who sang at one time with the Drifters, along with Emily Moore give performances that are professional, nostalgic, full of energy and unsurpassed in quality. Holy Ghost Tent Revival is a nice fast band passing through and coming to Huntsville. They're a bit fast, and this is more concert than than dance, however for those who want some Charleston and balboa, it should be fun.
