This is the second part of a two part class for learning the shim sham. So all you ou thtere that have not learned the shim sham and would like to come dance and stay for the dance party to practice what you've learned! The lessons at KCDC. You can see the first part of the class HERE.
For all of you out there that would like to learn the shim-sham a class is being held! This is the first part of a two part class. This class will be Saturday, March 24th at KCDC with the second part following on the next Saturday. Come out and learn a little swing. :-)

A beginner lesson will be held before the dance, covering The Shim Sham! Come for the dance and you get the lesson as well!

We are organizing a flash mob in a few location around Nashville to perform one of the best dances ever done. It's easy to learn and we will have a few practice sessions starting Weds July 13th at 6:30 Sharp! We only have an hour each Weds so if you are planning to come please come a little early.

We will practice at the globel education center in the back studio at 4822 Charlotte Pike Nashville, TN
HSDS will be doing a small performance/dance Saturday, June 25th at Bridgestreet! This is just an initial event and will hopefully lead to more outdoor performances. HSDS performers will be doing a Jam Cirle, a Tranky Doo, a Shim Sham, and some dancing.
You're invited to come out, watch, and cheer us on. There may even be a little dancing after (though we're not sure yet).
It's a great chance to come out and help HSDS show the rest of Huntsville what we're all about! We look forward to seeing you there!

The Shim Sham
The Shim Sham was created by tap dancer Leonard Reed in the 1920's and became part of the vernacular for Lindyhoppers at the Savoy Ballroom where they sometimes used it as a warm-up or just broke out with it spontaneously. It also inspired the song, 'Stompin' at the Savoy' by Edgar Sampson.
