Dance Venues - Where the hell are they?

If you're a new dancer, or maybe just an occasional dancer, you’ll understand when I say that dancers dance in some weird places! I remember starting dancing in Huntsville and missing dances simply because I couldn’t find the venue!

Well, HSDS wants to help. We’ve created a venues page on the HSDS website. We’ve tried to list the main venues in Huntsville, Nashville, Birmingham, and the surrounding area. We’ve tried to get addresses, directions, photos, links to the venues’ web pages; anything that can help!

Solo Blues with Brotha Rick and Jimmy Henderson at the Monkey

Brotha Rick (http://alabamabluesman.com/) and Jimmy Henderson (http://www.myspace.com/jimmyhendersonlive) will be playing at the Monkey. I'm not absolutely sure how dancible it'll be, but we've liked Brotha Rick in the past, so if you're feeling left out of Enter the Blues, you may want to drop a 5 and see the show.

February Wrap-Up

What a great turn out for the Sadie Hawkins dance! We had a huge turn out and people filled the floor every song. Even the lesson was so big we had to break out the headsets! Tabitha and Michael did a great job teaching the lesson.

Rick Jobe and Tuxedo Junction followed up with a great concert thanks in no small part to the wonderful support from Lelani and Chip Gulbro. They even fought through an equipment failure on the very first song to still pump out songs that all the dancers enjoyed.

HSDS Presents the Old City Buskers

Are you feeling lucky? Yes you are! Because this March we figured we'd get back to our Irish roots and those simpler times when you work hard during the day and let it all go at night.

We know you put in a tough day. And what the day took out of you, the Old City Buskers of Knoxville fame are going to put back in! They're a band made up of dancers who started making music at workshops and exchanges rather than just dancing to it. They've got that old-school sound of a band that practices on the back porch and plays for tips on a lazy afternoon. They're friends. They're our friends. And they're your friends as well!

Update: Potluck at the regional meetup

Hey, Huntsville people, at the Dec 9th dance, we're going to also do a pot luck here. It'll be BYOB&F, Bring Your Own Bottle and Food. So bring your favorite snack with you to share! Out-of-towners, don't worry about it, we'll bring enough for everyone!

August Sock Hop Recap

Man, what a great dance! I don't think we've ever had such a great mix of dancers. We had old and young, beginners and experienced, Huntsvillians and out-of-towners! It was one of our largest dancers ever if not the largest!

Saturday Events: On Schedule

All Saturday events are on schedule as planned. This is not expected to change.

June Dance Recap - AMAZING

You know, we normally expect the DJ dances to be a bit more low key. More so for a summer dance. More so for a dance not on our normal day

MAN WERE WE WRONG.
