What is Maui. Party.? Well, Its a Party. On Maui. (Why do people keep asking me this? I thought the name was quite clear?) More to the point, it is a DANCE Party. On Maui.

Really, when you are at a party with your dance friends, especially ones you haven't seen for a while, doesn't dancing break out spontaneously? Now pair that with some amazing DJs, live music, and adventures around the island, and you'll see what we're getting at here. It's a lindy exchange, it's a party, it's Maui. It's all that and a bag of chips (you bring the chips - we got enough of all that to share).

The Birmingham Swing Dancers Music by the Rudy Mockabee Band, a highlight of the Huntsville night scene for many years. Rudy, who sang at one time with the Drifters, along with Emily Moore give performances that are professional, nostalgic, full of energy and unsurpassed in quality. They keep the dance floor hopping with classic rock, R&B, and current hits. Casual attire. No smoking or alcohol. Light snacks, soft drinks, water and ice provided.

The Dean Martinis are a staple of swing dances in the South East. They've played all over Tennessee and Alabama. Just look at the last couple years' HSDS and Nashville dance schedules.

Swing! ran on Broadway from December 9, 1999 to January 14, 2001. Through a string of fortuitous coincidences, I learned on the Wednesday before its closing that its run was about to end and snapped up two of the musical's remaining tickets.

Swing! included West Coast, Country-Western, Latin and traditional Swing dancing as well as a band and four jazz/pop singers. While it didn't work all that well as a cohesive unit, taken as separate segments, it was a lot of fun.

The Birmingham Swing Dancers invite you to a swing dance on Friday, February 26 at the Fultondale Friendship Hall, 1024 Old Walker Chapel Road, Fultondale from 8:00 – 11:00 pm. Music by Patton James & the Synchromatics, a modern jump blues, rocking swing band from Nashville, Tennessee. From the melancholy sounds reminiscent of a YOUNG SINATRA to the high energy ROCKIN' JUMP BLUES of the 1940's, this band has it all. Admission is $11 for BSD members, $13 for non-members. Casual attire. Light snacks, soft drinks, water and ice are furnished. No alcohol or smoking allowed.
