Come out Tuesday evenings in August and learn Swing Dance, or add to your existing swing moves. We will be covering novice to intermediate moves and will be moving fairly swiftly through a plethora of 'stand alone' moves

Ain't Misbehavin' has its set list in order and is ready to play for the final Summertime Swing Dance on Friday, August 13, 2010. Join us from 7-10PM at the Camp Branch-Saginaw Community Center and dance the night away to the 18-piece Big Band. Dress is casual, concessions available, with a great wooden dance floor . . . and the A/C will be turned on EARLY! $5 admission. Music by Edd Jones Orchestra, a big band composed of talented and versatile musicians specializing in music for swing dancing and known for their ability to please the varied tastes of the dancing public. The band has earned an enviable reputation for dynamic instrumentals and unique vocal styles.

The Birmingham Swing Dancers invite you to a swing dance on Friday, February 26 at the Fultondale Friendship Hall, 1024 Old Walker Chapel Road, Fultondale from 8:00 – 11:00 pm. Music by Patton James & the Synchromatics, a modern jump blues, rocking swing band from Nashville, Tennessee. From the melancholy sounds reminiscent of a YOUNG SINATRA to the high energy ROCKIN' JUMP BLUES of the 1940's, this band has it all. Admission is $11 for BSD members, $13 for non-members. Casual attire. Light snacks, soft drinks, water and ice are furnished. No alcohol or smoking allowed.

So this is our basement Christmas party for all you dancers and non-dancers. We'll have dancing in the basement, games, karaoke, food, drink, and lots of merriness! Please bring some kind of finger food, something typical from your Christmas past, whatever you'd like to drink and your favorite music if you want us to play it! Please feel free to invite any friends that may not be facebook friends! See you next weekend!

Our favorite Christable is dropping by Birmingham for a concert this weekend! Christabel and the Jons is a southern swing band based in east Tennessee that blends familiar standards with modern vintage sounding originals. Their music is acoustic and colorful, a blend of Appalachian mountain music and vintage swing. The group saunters and sways together with ease. Lead singer Christa DeCicco steals hearts with her come-hither delivery and charismatic stage performance. Her songwriting is heartfelt and nostalgic, and her distinctive, sultry voice brings it all home.

Dance off that Thanksgiving feast with the Birmingham Swing Dancers on Friday, November 27 at the Fultondale Friendship Hall, 1024 Old Walker Chapel Road, Fultondale from 8:00 – 11:00 pm.

Our holiday charity this year is the Church of the Reconciler who provide food, clothing and medical supplies to the homeless in Birmingham. The organization has requested large jars of peanut butter & jelly, bread, coffee, sugar, Tylenol, bandages, ointments, antacids, and peroxide. Please bring your donations to the dance, they appreciate your assistance.
