Huntsville has never really had a good, in-depth balboa lesson. We're about to change that. And we're going to do it BIG. We're going to have a balboa workshop with two days of moves taught by Corey and Susan from Nashville. This workshop is geared at people with basic swing knowledge but no balboa knowledge. At the end, you'll be dancing balboa on its own and making it an intrinsical part of your lindy.
Balboa is a form of swing danced to fast music. It utilizes small steps to make dancing to faster music possible. You can interweave lindy with balboa the same as Charleston.
Balboa, while a dance utilized by most regular swing dancers, is not as commonly taught. Many times when it is taught, only the basics are covered. This is a chance to change that. We will be teaching not just the basics, but moves, styles and fundamentals that will allow you to both dance balboa on it's own and in your lindy swing.
This will probably be the last chance to go from 0 to 60 in balboa taught in Huntsville for years to come so come on out and take advantage of this amazing opportunity.

Corey & Susan Manke have been dancing Lindy Hop for almost 8 years and Balboa for 5 years. During this time, they have studied with many national & international instructors but have been most inspired by: David Rehm, Nick Williams, Bobby White & Kate Hedin, Marty & Jen Lau and Marty Kempner & Valerie Salstrom. Corey & Susan are one of the few balboa instructors in the southeast and have been teaching workshops & private lessons for 4 years. Their focus is to demystify the dance of balboa and make dancers comfortable enough to mix into their regular social dancing. Although they rarely compete, Corey has been a finalist in the Jack & Jill for ABW 2007 and placed 3rd in 2008 and EBC 2006 & 2008 and placed 2nd in the Jack & Jill for the Harvest Moon Melee. Susan is shy and doesn’t like competing, but she is working on her competition mojo. Together, they have placed 7th at ABW & EBC 2008 in Amateur Strickly Balboa.
