For those of us who remember when the only swing in Huntsville was the 1 HSDS dance monthly (or even quarterly), we've come a long way. I was updating the calendar today and realized you can go to lessons and/or dance Monday to Thursday! You have Monday Motion at UFC, South Side Swing on Tuesday, Beginning Lindy with Dana on Wednesday, Thursday Night Swing at UAH, and Friday is open for all the dances, workshops, and exchanges.
The UAH Dance Club has a dance at least one Friday every month. HSDS hosts a dance one Saturday each month and almost always has a band! There's at least 1-2 exchanges and workshops in the area each month. And don't forget our Birmingham and Nashville Brethren. They have lessons Monday and Thursday as well as the First Friday Blues Dance and LBCB twice a month.
And don't forget the other two swing communities in Huntsville: The West Cost Swing dancers and the Shag Dancers. Both have weekly (Wednesdays and Thursdays) as well as bigger events throughout the year.
We went from having very little dance to dance almost every night of the week both in town and out! Congratulations Huntsville on such a great scene. It's been great being part of HSDS and getting to help build the scene.
