Following the beginner, lesson, Tabitha will be teaching an intermediate lesson. Intermediate lessons are for anyone from those who have just learned basic swing to those who regularly dance out of town. This is your chance to learn new things, hoan your skills, and practice what you know.
In January we will be focusing on Charleston transitions. While we all know at least one way to get in and out of charleston or from one charleston style to another, this class is aimed at diversifying how you go between styles and making you comfortable using all of them.
The February class will be a critique class. Students will be given a single, core, critique to work on during the class. The goal will be to improve each students swing, 1 thing at a time.
The March class will be musicality. We know you know the moves, now learn how to use them. This class will focus on hearing what their is to dance to in the music and learning how to use it. Learn what to listen for in the music, (breaks, melody/harmony, phrasing, both slow and fast). The class will follow in part on the critique class of February and will focus more on giving students a certain concept to practice rather than just moves.
The April class will a choreography class. The class will be choreographing it's own routine!
The May Beginner/Intermediate class, by popular demand, will be a blues class! This is your chance to make your dance feel good. We'll be pumping you full of what makes blues feel good. This isn't your normal jukin class. This is about finding the feeling inbetween. We'll show you that the smaller, the slower, the smoother, the better! So come out and celebrate the last month in style!
UPDATE 3/15: Lessons 3/16 are cancelled due to spring break. We will resume next week working on musicality. have you ever felt like your dance feels the same no matter whta the music is? Have you felt like the music wants you to do somee kind of move but you didn't know what? This class is all about hearing and understanding what the music is doing and pairing it with the moves you know.
Update 3/28: We've extended through May. May will likely be the last lesson for a while as Tabitha works on being a mother first and a dancer second.
April will be an extension of March with continuing musicality in the intermediate class.
