The Meat:
Grass Roots Rhythm was incredible! It was by far the best swing lessons we have ever had in Huntsville. Miss Tess and the Bon Ton Parade played a fantastic dance, and even the Sunday afterparty was huge! Thanks to Michael for the great photos. We also got some great video of the jam circles. Hopefully we'll get the photos and video reviewed this week so people can take a look! Also, congratulations to Rob Murphy and Sara Simpson who won the Jack and Jill contest (and the CD prizes donated by Miss Tess) and thanks to the two dozen participants! What: Benefit Dance for Melody & Amberly

As many of you know, twins Melody and Amberly were in a car accident coming back from dancing in Nashville. Melody was killed and Amberly hurt badly. If any of you know Maria from Nashville, her sister, Berta, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Please come out and support Berta, Maria and the rest of their family Saturday Dec 12th. When New Year's Eve rolls around, there's only one thing on every HSDS member's mind, and thats dancing the night away! We want to make absolutely sure that's an option this December and so we have invited the enthralling Rocket City Jazz Orchestra to play us into the new year! Come out and enjoy the new year in style! Because we've got such a great band and venue, we want to extend the invitation beyond the swing community and invite the entire Huntsville dance community, swing, ballroom, and latin alike! As always there will be a beginner swing lesson from 7-8pm followed by music, dancing, and joyous celebration! So even if you've never danced before, come on out and enjoy the party! Also, due to funding cuts, the UAH Dance Club has had to discontinue it's donation to HSDS. We have greatly appreciated the UAH Dance Club's donations which have made it possible to allow UAH Students in free. Unfortunately, without the subsidy, UAH students will have to pay for dances in 2010. However we still plan to offer the student discount to ease the financial burden. Also, the UAH Dance Club's donation greatly helped us put on workshops and events. So now, more than ever, we'll need the community's help to keep providing top notch swing dance events in Huntsville.
Also, look for an update later in the month with more information on the New Year's Eve Bash as well as 2010 HSDS membership. We've had a lot of people ask us about how they join HSDS. We think we've figured out a good way of doing it and we'll update you on it soon =). So stay tuned and keep swinging!
