First, the Sept HSDS Dance:
When: Sept 19, 7-11
Where: Flying Monkey Arts Center
What: Pete Roze & the Swing Asylum
Cost: $10 general/$7 students/FREE for UAH students If you're a jitterbug dancer that hasn't been to a dance in a while, this is your dance. Steve and Lynn Edmondson will be teaching a beginner 6-count swing lesson before the dance and Pete and his band will be providing great beats to exercise your skills. This'll also be a great first dance for those just getting into swing to enjoy the social aspect without the worry of trying to impress their partners!

On to October, the always-memorable Halloween dance!
When: Oct 24, 1-6pm
Where: Flying Monkey Arts Center
What: Workshop with jason and Danielle Knight
Cost: $25 General & $20 Student. Plus half off the Dance We've got some new friends in town from Cookeville and they've offered to share their unique style of lindy with us! Danielle and Jason Knight of Cookeville fame will be holding the "Rock the Lindy Hop" workshop. It'll be a great time for all of our lindy dancers to get out and experiences a completely different style for their swing. This workshop is Danielle and Jason's way of saying 'hi' to the Huntsville community so come out and celebrate with them! Details at http://www.huntsvilleswingdance.org/node/218. What: Dance Christabel and the Jons!
Cost: $10 general/$7 students/FREE for UAH students And what a dance do we have coming after the workshop. Not only is this our halloween dance, (the costume pictures from last year speak for themselves), but this is also Christabel and the Jons! Christa is quickly rising to the national level and we're lucky to get her in our humble corner of the world. Her and her band have defined themselves through their folk swing music in a way no other band can. Come out, wear your favorite costume, and have the most incredible dance experience of your life to the most amazing music you can imagine!

And in November, it gets better!
When: Nov 20 - 22
Where: Multiple Venues
What: Grass Roots Rhythm Workshop with Michael and Jaya Gambel!
Cost: $69 (includes dance) at door, $60/$55 general/student pre-reg So what could be better than a workshop and a costume dance with a national band? How about a national band AND national instructors! Huntsville Swing Dance Society is proud to announce Grass Roots Rhythm! We've got Michael and Jaya Gamble of Lindy Focus fame coming to teach! Their credits are way too long to list here, but they are good, amazingly good! They'll be teaching us not just what moves to use but where to put them to make our dance amazing! This is by far the most impressive workshop we've ever put on and will take Huntsville to the next level! And it's not just for the lindy dancers, it's for everyone that wants to add new spice to their swing! Check out the website at http://www.huntsvilleswingdance.org/grr

What: HSDS dance with Miss Tess and the Bon Ton Parade
Cost: $10 general/$7 students/FREE for UAH students and workshop participants For such an incredible workshop we need an incredible band and Miss Tess and the Bon Ton parade fits that bill. Another national band out of Boston, Miss Tess brings her 'Modern Vintage' style to Huntsville once again. Miss Tess is also getting national recognition such as her music's recent inclusion on the Vanity Fair website. She's one of our favorite performers and people. This will be a dance that will live on in everyone's minds so be there!

And on to December...
You'd think with the amazing September, October, and November HSDS events we'd be taking the holiday season off... but instead we're bringing you something special. We've noticed a decided lack of swing dancing new years, so we're working to set up the HSDS dance new years eve! Set your new years plans now to meet with your favorite friends and dance the night away! more details to come!

So the next few months are going to be huge! We'll have better quality and quantity teaching, dancing, and music in the next three months than HSDS has had in the last three years. And on top of that we may even through in another surprise or two so stay tuned and keep on swingin!
