Memorial Day Weekend Wrap-Up

Printer-friendly version
What an amazing memorial day weekend! It may have been the weekend after our monthly dance, but that doesn't mean it was slow. It started with Dana Dafter Austin's wedding. The wedding went of great and was followed by a ton of dancing, and general celebrating for the rest of the eventing. Congratulations to Dana, Jared, (and all the other dance couples that were married this weekend)!
After the outdoor wedding, we decided to move it indoors for Saturday night. We dropped on over by the Flying Monkey where the the Funky Pirate Jazz Band was playing the encore to their Friday dock performance in the theater. The Funky Pirates are something else! Jamming to the Star Wars Cantina music is just one example of the craziness going down at the dance. It was a fun time and everyone is looking forward to seeing them back In September. (I'm sorry the pictures are so bad. All I had was a cell phone.)
And what better way to round out the weekend with a Sunday dance at bridge street featuring Brotha Ric! He's a great musician (and all around nice guy). He laid down solid blues all afternoon for the crowd with Huy and Paul filling in the breaks. Big thanks to everyone who came out and who brought water, towels, or equipment to keep the dancers cool!

Thanks again to everyone who made this a wonderful dance and we'll see you for the Vinyl Experience Swing and Soul party with Jim Wheatley next month!
