Huntsville Swing Dance Society strives to preserve and promote the art form of social swing dancing in the Huntsville, Alabama area. It is our goal to propogate swing dance down through the younger generations into perpetuity. To educate and instruct residents of the Huntsville area about swing dance and the swing era. To provide swing dance instruction to beginning and advanced dancers through regularly scheduled lessons and occassional workshops. To provide venues and opportunities for social swing dancing through regularly scheduled swing events. To provide, foster, and promote a social setting conducive to congenial social dancing.
The Huntsville Swing Dance Society is run be a board serving in varying positions. See the Teachers and Leaders page for some of our current board members. Additionally, we are supported by a group of members who volunteer to help set up, break down, and work doors for events. The Huntsville Swing Dance Society tries to work closely with regional dance groups. We have a strong relationship with both the Nashville and Birmingham Scenes. We also participate regularly with Memphis, Knoxville, Atlanta, Murphysboro, and Chattanooga. If you are a scene in the southeast, feel free to contact us!
